Community Partners are healthcare related organizations in the greater Worcester area that provide students with access to community focused programs.

They also provide a variety of valuable resources and services including: Instructors and speakers for community health courses, translators and interpreters, access to diverse segments of the population, promote healthcare related careers, and are focused on bringing diversity to the workforce.

Central Mass AHEC

Central Massachusetts Area Health Education Center (AHEC), located at the UMass Medical School in Worcester, MA is a regional office for the Massachusetts AHEC network.  The mission of AHEC is to respond to local healthcare workforce needs through training, certificate, and continuing education programs.  For additional information about the Central MA AHEC visit their website.

Fallon Community Health Plan

Massachusetts Area Health Education Center (MA AHEC).

The MA AHEC is part of a nation-wide program developed by Congress in 1971 to recruit, train and retain a health professions workforce committed to underserved populations. The AHEC program helps bring the resources of academic medicine to address local community health needs.  Massachusetts AHEC is a network of six (6) regional offices, in collaboration with the Office of Medical Education at Boston University School of Medicine and a network office at UMass Medical School.  For further information visit the MA AHEC web site.

Regional Medical Library

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine New England Region (NER) supports the health information  needs of  providers and the public by supporting the resources of the National Library of Medicine.  Throughout the region, NER staff  offer free training to health and human service agencies on using MedlinePlus, PubMed, and environmental health resources like Toxnet.  With funding and technical assistance, NER supports the work of other community partners in bringing health information resources to community members entering health careers throughout Central Massachusetts.

Fairlawn Foundation

In 1921 members of the Worcester Swedish community established Fairlawn Hospital as a way to serve the growing health needs of the area. Its board of trustees transferred ownership of the hospital in 1991 to a for-profit rehabilitation corporation in response to changes taking place in the healthcare system.

The following year, proceeds from this transaction established the Fairlawn Foundation, an endowed fund administered by Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

Created with a founding gift of $5 million, Fairlawn Foundation is one of the earliest health conversion foundations in Massachusetts. In its first 15 years, it has awarded over $4 million in grants to support capital needs, clinical services, and professional education.
